Next up on the GAT-X hit list is the Duel Gundam. I actually kinda wanted to build the Buster, but after painting non-standard Gundam colours with Aegis and Blitz, I felt an urge to go back to painting something in the simple blue and white colour scheme.

Grey parts primed and ready to paint.
To begin with, I’m going to paint the primary armour colour first as usual. The Duel isn’t white, rather it’s more like a very light grey colour. So I start by painting all the parts with a base coat of Neutral Grey (70%) + White (30%).
The colour was so similar to the Mr Surfacer primer colour, it probably would’ve been better if I added a bit more white to the mixture.
The first layer of highlights is a coat of White (90%) + Neutral Grey (10%). It’s hard to see in these pictures since I had to take it under crappy fluorescent lighting at nighttime.
Finally, White (100%) is applied to brighten the highlights. I don’t remember the parts looking so dark in the picture above, otherwise I might have to go back and do another white highlight coat.
On the next post I’ll be painting the main blue colour as well as the Assault Shroud armour parts.
